The first time Adult Social Care tried to take Rohan from his home in 2021/2022 we were completely clueless. We never expected it or saw it coming. In the first nineteen years there were never any concerns raised. We had social workers visit us every 6 weeks, they saw and documented a very loved and looked-after guy, supported by his family and care team, that I hired and trained, I was on duty day and night. He has often been nicknamed, ‘golden boy’ and ‘king Rohan’, as he gets the royal treatment.
In response to the education tribunal [in 2021], Adult Social Care launched one of their biggest missiles, SAFEGUARDING: or “concerns” in which they make up stuff about you, maybe raise the threshold to a Section 42 (to investigate) because they can, and then hold it open over your head for months. On this occasion they sent us a nasty letter from their Solicitors – a pre-action protocol to CoP with a whole new load of made-up tripe about me. It is always about me! It is incredibly misogynistic – Dave is there in all the emails and decisions, yet I am enemy number one!
I know I am not alone; I have so many mums that say the same. One mum confessed to me that she was continuously told she was the problem, and thought about ending her life. She believed that if she took herself out of the equation then her child would be safe. Thankfully she had a supportive network that saved her. Less than six months ago another friend voiced a similar story, she said: “I feel so helpless against this LA, they just keep creating lie after lie. They have so much power I will never be able to get what my child needs to keep my child safe, I might as well not be here”. Being a mum who has been there and done that I responded in a loving but urging manner: “You will be no use to your child six feet under, so let’s think of what you can influence?”
Adult Social Care then tried using their second weapon: THE BEST INTEREST DECISION. Thankfully we had Deputyship, and understand the rights and responsibilities this confers on us so we were able to defuse it. It took five months to get them off our backs, and was so intense. Each time they come for Rohan I feel my life getting a little bit shorter.
We should be dealing with Adult Social “Care”, but it feels like terrorists who hold you to ransom and threaten you. However, that is the experience many of us have had. I object to them using the public purse to pay for these people, this service, and the lawyers they are using against us. We all need to stand together to create reform of this institution. Please share our gofundme page. If we get it to 10,000 people, who each donate £10 we will have £100,000 to help all these other families. Please donate and share as widely as possible.
