Are you on or have you tried:-
  • The Cambridge or Slimfast diet?
  • The Atkins diet?
  • Starvation diets…or variations of the above, the lists are endless…
And did you find the weight goes and then it just piles back on as soon as you come off the extreme regime?
Do you wonder how on earth other people stay a reasonable size and weight for most of their lives and eat ‘normal food’?
What if I tell you, you can loose weight and maintain it whilst eating ‘normal’ food by changing the way you think?  Here is the science, if you buy Socrates model of Stimulus, Belief, Response (SBR) what you think is directly responsible for how you feel and the way you behave.  So if you change what you think you will change how you feel and the way you behave.

So many, many years ago when my family/friends did things I did not like or want I used to get unhappy to show them my disapproval, this was also an attempt to move them to get them to do what I wanted.  This would often be accompanied by over eating, particularly eating bags of crisps and sometimes chocolate. Why did I do this?… because another thought I would have is that I must be a bad/ insufficient person for them not to do what I want, I would comfort myself by eating more. Yes, I believed there was such a thing as ‘comfort eating’ I thought I was looking after myselfeating the crisps would pacify me a little but funnily never created comfort and ease inside that I was after. This was one of many patterns of thought that I had adopted to support this behaviour.

As time went on I explored this odd relationship with food using Option process® Dialogues, and came to some very different ways of thinking.  I stopped determining my self worth by my families/friends wants and decisions.  I also noticed during one session that every time I ate without hunger I just ended up getting bloated, experienced acid reflux which resulted in physical pain, how was that comfort eating? so I decided to rename it as ‘discomfort eating’.

By the way I still eat crisps and love them, just don’t use them as a pacifier any more! I am no longer a victim to those things that are external to me and consequently have learnt to eat in a different way! Consequently I have a much more regulated body shape and with only a few side effects which are being more comfortable, more self trusting, have a healthier relationship with food and have learnt to have so much more fun!

So if you want to learn how to change the way you think then come and attend one of my workshops or book some dialogue sessions in with me. Rekha 🙂
